The book cover series, Skeptics of the Superstitious, was designed in the Fall of 2020. The series itself follows a group of kids as they learn about divination and in turn themselves. The five books focus mainly on astrology and tarot. Each cover was painted with acrylic on canvas and digitally scanned in.
The cover of Center of Expression focuses on the Sun. The Sun is the center of the Universe and the center of ourselves, it provides our whole planet with life and energy. The mirror represents self-expression and the river represents a source of life.
The cover of Complexity of Intuition focuses on the Moon. The Moon represents our intuition, subconscious, and femininity, it also controls the ocean and the tides. A woman is sleeping among the waves because when we are asleep is the only time we are truly in touch with our subconscious.
The cover of Fortune of Insight focuses on tarot cards. Tarot cards give us insight into our past, present, and future. The winding path and pointing hand represent our life path that is constantly moving forward, and the mountain range in the background is the triangular symbol for the past, present, and future.
The cover of Path of the Heavens focuses on the zodiac. The zodiac constellations determine our psyche and personality based on where the planets are within the zodiac belt at the time of our birth. Candles provide us protection just as the zodiacs do, and the pentacles on the dripping wax represent the twelve zodiac constellations.
The cover of Rulers of Our Psyche focuses on the planets, not including the Sun and the Moon. The heart, according to the Hermetic Qabalah assignment, represents the Sun. The hitchhiker’s thumb represents the planets because they are also known as the wanderers. The arm of the hitchhiker wears the planetary symbols like tattoos.
